The National Judges Association Tournament of Bands Atlantic Coast Indoor Championships will be held at the Wildwoods Convention Center from Thursday, May 4 through Sunday, May 7.
The Tournament of Bands will feature performers ranging from middle school through college level and encompass marching bands, indoor guard, majorette, percussion and dance teams – as well as jazz bands. Over 220 competitive scholastic and independent units from nine states in the mid-Atlantic region will compete in the four-day competition.
A variety of unique styles are incorporated into each performance, which get more creative every year. All classes will be judged on: Quality of Sound, Balance/Blend, Interpretation, Musicality, Rhythm, Solos/Improvisation and Repertoire. Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will be presented to the winners of each group in each class.
The Tournament of Bands is one of the largest educational competitive band organizations in the country. Founded in 1972 by the National Judges Association, it has grown to more than 400 active school and independent organizations. As part of their commitment to education, scholarships totaling more than $100,000 have been awarded to graduating senior students to attend colleges and universities throughout the United States.
The event hours are Thursday, May 4 from 9 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.; Friday, May 5 from 8:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.; Saturday, May 6 from 8 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.; and Sunday, May 7 from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
