HARRISBURG – State Reps. Joanna McClinton and Maria Donatucci, both D-Delaware and Philadelphia counties, announced last Wednesday that $540,000 in school safety grants are being provided for Southeast Delco and William Penn school districts.

“This funding is part of my ongoing fight to ensure all children have access to a quality education in a safe learning environment,” McClinton said. “Students have their whole lives in front of them, and I will continue working to secure state funds that help protect their future.”

The William Penn School District received $495,000 in state funds to help strengthen security measures, including classroom management, emergency preparedness procedures and violence prevention.

“When it comes to improving our schools, safety is just as crucial as academics,” Donatucci said. “Every student in our commonwealth is worthy to learn in classrooms that are safe, and I will continue advocating for state funding to ensure our students are protected.”

The Southeast Delco School District received $45,000 in state funds to invest in: • Conflict resolution management.

• School-wide positive behavior support. • Risk assessment, safety-related, violence prevention curricula, including curricula on dating violence.

• Evidence-based screenings for adverse childhood experiences.

The grant money is a part of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s School Safety and Security Committee approval of $53.7 million in school safety and security grants to 524 school entities throughout the Commonwealth.
