Women Against Abuse, Inc., Philadelphia’s leading domestic violence agency, is pleased to partner with Toys for Tots for its 2013 Holiday Gift Drive.

Each December, the Women Against Abuse emergency safe haven transforms its staff meeting room into a bustling Holiday Gift Shop filled with toys, books and
warm pajamas from our generous donors. Each of the women residing in this 100-bed safe haven are given the opportunity to “shop” for themselves and their
children, carefully selecting gifts according to their children’s age and interests.

The women and children who benefit from the Holiday Gift Drive have had to flee their homes to escape from abuse. Often, they arrive at Women Against
Abuse’s confidential emergency safe haven with only the clothes on their backs.

“Women Against Abuse is thrilled to be partnering with Toys for Tots to ensure that the many children who reside at our emergency safe haven – the only
domestic violence shelter in Philadelphia – will have a happy holiday,” said Jeannine L. Lisitski, Executive Director of Women Against Abuse. “It’s so
inspiring to see the joy on the faces of the boys and girls when they open their gifts. As survivors of domestic violence, they are adjusting to so much.
We are grateful to be able to brighten their holiday season with the generosity of Toys for Tots and our donors.”

Call to the Community: Adopt-A-Family Program. Women Against Abuse is in need of community support for its Adopt-A-Family program. As part of its Holiday
Gift Drive, the Adopt-A-Family program is a fun and rewarding way to celebrate the holidays and share the spirit of giving by directly supporting Women
Against Abuse clients who are transitioning into homes of their own. Participants will receive a profile of their “adopted family,” as well as a
personalized wish list. This year, there are more than 50 families who need to be “adopted.” Community members can sign up now through the end of November
to get involved!
