School District of Philadelphia students win 11 of 16 first prizes in Philadelphia Young Playwrights Young Voices Monologue Festival

Eleven School District of Philadelphia students were among the 16 first-prize winners In the recent Young Voices Mlonologue Festival, which attracted more than 400 entries. The festival was sponsored by Philadelphia Young Playwrights.

 

Prizes went to: Daniel Ghem, Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush; Isabel Ramos, Masterman Middle/High School; Sherice Bright, Parkway Northwest High School for Peace and Justice; LaMaya Map and Nia Berry, Science Leadership Academy; Jacob Fagaliano, Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts; Jerry Wise, Dobbins High School; Scherlyne Pierre-Louis, Franklin Learning Center; Francisco Garcia, Academy at Palumbo; Savon Jefferson, Constitution High School; and Olivia Ngo, Central High School.

 

The monologues of the first-prize winners will be performed by professional actors in collaboration with InterAct Theatre Company from February 3 through 6, 2010.
