The Progressive National Baptist Convention, (PNBC) expects around 8,000 attendees this August for its 57th Annual National Convention in Philadelphia. But even before then, the local Host Committee will present a “Pre-Convention Concert on Friday, March 2nd. The concert event will take place at Triumph Baptist Church, home of the Philadelphia Host Committee Pastor, Reverend Dr. James S. Hall. The concert will start with a Praise and Worship Service at 7:00p.m. Triumph Baptist Church is located at the intersection of Germantown and W. Hunting Park Avenue, (1648 W. Hunting Park Avenue) in Philadelphia.

“We want to really get the excitement building about the Progressive National Baptist Convention coming back to our city this summer, August 5th -10th,” Hall said. “The last time the PNBC was in Philadelphia was in 1960. The buzz will start with this concert event we’re hosting at my church on March 2nd. Our master of ceremonies will be Rev. Albert Morgan from Union Temple Baptist Church. Renowned gospel recording artists Anthony Brown and Group TheraAPy, Lonnie Hunter and Structure, Elder Goldwire McClendon, The Wilmington/Chester Mass Choir, Judy Peterson, (from Tyler Perry’s stage play, “Daddy’s Little Girl”), Bishop Andrew Ford and the Anointed Voices of Ford Memorial will all be here to perform. Christian urban story teller T.W. Suggs will perform at the concert, and Praise and Liturgical Dance will be presented by the Praise Dance Ministry of Bethany Baptist Church of Lindenwold, NJ.”

This is a ticketed event with the goal to raise funds to assist the Host Committee with giving each and every one of their conferees a PNBC experience like they’ve never had before this summer.

The overall theme for the national conference this year is, “Civil Rights and Social Justice.” Our national president, Dr. Perkins, and other experts in the legal arena will address civil rights and social justice issues. There will be praise and worship sessions going on, dynamic sermons being preached and PNBC business being addressed, including an election for new leaders of this premiere organization.”

Reverend Hall went on to say that while the big push is for the PNBC national convention, even before they get there, he’s calling on all Christians, both Baptists and others to come out and enjoy a wonderful gospel concert with spice.

For details about tickets and a V.I.P. Reception after the concert, call Triumph Baptist Church at 215-228-800, etx. 224.
