City employees may be eligible for 25 percent tuition discounts at some colleges
Graduate! Philadelphia will sponsor a college fair this fall aimed at adult students looking to return to college after years away.
Graduate! Philadelphia provides free guidance and support to “Comebackers” – adults who have some college credit and who are not currently enrolled in school. Free services include individual academic advising, guided searches to identify the best college fit, assistance filing for financial aid, customized plans for successful degree completion, waivers of application fees at partner colleges and other services that follow students through degree completion.
The free fair on October 17, from 4:30-7:30 pm at the PA CareerLink Northwest building, at 235 W. Chelten Avenue in Germantown, will feature representatives from Graduate! Philadelphia and more than 15 Philadelphia-area colleges who are prepared to assist individuals with the crucial steps for going back to college.
The fair is for those 19 and over who have college credits and wish to complete their degree, those who have an associate’s degree and want to complete a four-year degree and those with no college experience who wish to start college.
City employees have an added incentive to attend the fair: through the Mayor’s Returning to Learning Partnership, a 25 percent tuition discount program for City of Philadelphia employees has been established with Chestnut Hill College, Community College of Philadelphia, Philadelphia University, and Rosemont College. All will have representatives present at the fair.
Graduate! Philadelphia has already helped more than 2,000 “Comebackers” re-enroll in college. Another 1,500 people are currently using Graduate! Philadelphia’s assistance in their preparations to return to college.
