The Philadelphia Club Frontiers Int’l celebrates 50 plus years of raising more than $600K for area youth scholarships

In the spirit of charitable giving, The Philadelphia Club Frontiers International Inc will celebrate 50 plus years of awarding scholarships to youth in the Philadelphia region at PECO – Energy Hall, 2301 Market Street, Nov. 11 at 4:00 PM. Since 1960, the group has raised well over $600,000 to benefit area youth who wish to further their education at four year colleges or universities.

 

In addition to raising money for scholarships through annual fundraisers, the Frontiers honors distinguished business, civic and political leaders during it’s Fall gala.

 

This year the group will highlight the accomplishments of the Honorable Curtis Jones Jr., City of Philadelphila, 4th Councilmanic District; the late Floyd Austin, former President of the Board of Education – School District of Philadelphia & past President & Chairman of Frontiers International; and business owers: Donnie Allie, President, Team Clean, Inc and Will Daniels, CEO of Wilco Electronics, Inc. at their Annual Service Awards and Scholarship Gala.

 

These four political, civic and business executives have donated and/or raised millions of dollars along with awareness for community and civic groups in the city of Philadelphia and throughout the Delaware Valley.

 

Joining the Frontiers as Mistress of Ceremonies will be NBC 10’s Reporter, Monique Braxton who will introduce the keynote speaker, Honorable Curtis Jones.

 

Established in 1942, the Philadelphia Club is the second oldest and the largest affiliate of Frontiers International. The Club has supported numerous programs including hypertension, sickle cell, scholarships, aid to the homeless, health fairs, career fairs and business workshops. The mission of the Philadelphia Club of Frontiers International, Inc. is primarily to serve children and youth of Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley.

 

The membership boasts of individuals from all segments of our community, including professional, business religious, political, educational and civic leaders. Some of the notable men of the Frontiers included, Father Thomas Logan, Sr. of the African Episcopal Church; Dr. Edward Robinson Jr, scholar of African Studies & noted attorney and former President of Berean Bank, Fred Miller.
