State Rep. Stephen Kinsey, D-Phila., will hold his second “Salute to Veterans,” a ceremony and open house in honor of veterans, from 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Soldiers Monument, the intersection of Germantown Avenue and School House Lane in Germantown.
The ceremony, which begins with a community parade from Chelten Avenue to School House Lane, will be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument.
Concurrent workshops, activities and presentations will follow the ceremony, including those from the Pennsylvania Mobile Veterans’ Outreach Van, area junior ROTC, Praise Dancers and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church choir. There will also be a post-traumatic stress disorder forum, screening of the movie, “Veterans of Color,” and health screenings organized by Einstein Healthcare.
Afterward, Rep. Kinsey will honor more than 200 veterans, including men from the 644th Engineer Battalion.
The event is open to the public, with off-street parking provided.
