State Rep. John Sabatina, D-Phila., reminded constituents in the 174 Legislative District that his office can help them find out the immediate status of their 2012 Property Tax/Rent Rebate.

The program issues rebates on property taxes or rent paid in 2012 to eligible Pennsylvanians 65 or older; widows and widowers 50 or older; and people with disabilities 18 or older.

“I’ve received great feedback from constituents who have taken advantage of this service,” Sabatina said. “My office is more than willing to assist them in finding the status of their claim so they no longer have to play a guessing game with their 2012 Property Tax/Rent Rebate.”

Those requesting this service will need to have on hand their Social Security number, the claim year and their date of birth.

The 2012 Property Tax/Rent Rebate tracing services is available in Sabatina’s constituent service offices, located at 16 Old Ashton Road in Holme Circle and 8100 Castor Ave. Sabatina said he encourages constituents to call the Holme Circle office at 215-330-3714 or the Castor Avenue office at 215-342-6204 or stop by for more information.

The rebate program is limited to those with maximum income of $35,000 per year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for those who rent; half of Social Security, Supplemental Security or federal Railroad Retirement Tier I income is excluded. The maximum standard rebate is $650, but supplemental rebates for qualifying homeowners can boost rebates to $975.

The deadline to apply for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate is Dec. 31.
