Lil’ Mo is still going strong after nearly 20 years in the business. She is still making history in music, television and stage.
Lil’ Mo had us jamming in the club with her hits. The songwriter and actress, who is now 41, has worked musically with Missy Elliott, Fabolous, Ja Rule, Jay-Z and the late ODB (Old Dirty Bastard from the Wu Tang Clan) to name a few. Lil’ Mo is currently starring on WE TV’s Marriage Bootcamp: Hip Hop Edition. She has a new album “Separation Anxiety” that has a single with rapper Wiz Khalifa.
On Saturday February 23, she will star in Eve Ensler’s V-Day Monologues narrated by WDAS-FM’s Frankie Darcell.
SUN: Share with us why you are looking forward to participating in Eve Ensler’s V-Day Monologues narrated by WDAS-FM’s Frankie Darcell?
Mo: The title alone rings bells. But, since I was on R&B Divas LA and we did the #divalogues, I always wanted to be part of the V-Day Monologues. It just seems so empowering, uplifting and LIT! (laughs).
SUN: Being that you perform your music around the globe, is it easy to bring your talents to theater?
Mo: No, it’s not easy. Because, with my shows it’s LOUD and I can zone out. With theater, you can hear a pin drop. I know my stomach is going to make a noise. I’ll be embarrassed and play it off. So, you know what, yes it is easier. HELLO!
SUN: We hear that you spend a lot of time in Philly. Is Philly now home for you?
Mo: Philly is one of our stops on the “we ain’t never home tour” (laughs). That’s what I call life right now. Never home. We have places everywhere. I live between Maryland and Philly. Philly is my husband Karl’s birthplace and I may move here for good. I’m always all over the place though. Who knows?
SUN: What do you want to share with your fans who are excited to see you in the play?
Mo: Wait until you see what “V” character I am. OMG, it fits really nicely with all that is going on with Marriage Bootcamp and me being cast for this season. So, it will be strengthening to say the least.
SUN: What’s next for you?
Mo: Everything, literally! No Cap! (no cap: slang for all truth, no faking or fronting). The new EP is entitled Separation Anxiety. My first single features Wiz Khalifa and it’s called The Plug which is directly correlated to my story from Marriage Bootcamp. I’m working on lashes, gloss, hair, tees; and furs with @pinkxolips. You name it, I want in! I’m on the road really heavy since I’ve been back on television. And, I really want another baby really soon. I’m feeling like I want to be a mommy-to-be again, and register for law school.
