The Philadelphia Police Explorers Cadet Post is a program for young adults ages 14-20 who are interested in the law enforcement profession. The Explorers will meet at the 35th Police District at 5960 North Broad Street every Saturday from 10:00AM – 5:00PM. The Explorers are required to wear uniforms and expected to maintain a neat and “polished” appearance at all times. They receive classroom instruction and hands-on training in law enforcement procedures from local, state and federal agencies.
Some of the training includes:
• Self-Defense
• Arrest and Search Techniques
• Hostage Negotiations
• Traffic and Crowd Control
• Burglaries in Progress
• First Aid and CPR
• Traffic Accident Investigations
• Gun Safety
• Vehicle Investigations Conditioning
• Physical & Psychological Conditioning
• Crime Scene Searches
Any explorer who has completed a minimum of two (2) years of service with the Philadelphia Police Explorer Cadets, which includes 672 hours of training and 298 hours of community service or external training, will be awarded three (3) preference points to be applied to the Police Officer Recruit examination.
