Philadelphia Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC) announced it has hired Cydneé Phoenix and Karen D. Jackson, CPA, as Vice President of Operations and Programs, and Chief Financial Officer, respectively, effective immediately.

Phoenix, who resides in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, will be responsible for leading and directing OIC’s operations, human resources, information systems, program execution, new program identification, program coordination, building management, agency promotion and communication. As CFO, Jackson, who resides in South Philadelphia, will direct and oversee all aspects of finance and accounting for Philadelphia OIC.

“We are thrilled to have both Cydneé and Karen join the executive leadership team at Philadelphia OIC,” said Kevin R. Johnson, President and CEO of Philadelphia OIC. “Together, they bring over 40 years of combined professional experience within the hospitality and finance industries which will serve our organization well as we continue to grow and expand on our current program offerings in the community. On behalf of OIC, I extend a warm welcome to Cydneé and Karen and look forward to working together in continuing the Rev. Dr. Leon Sullivan’s mission of helping people help themselves.”

Prior to joining OIC, Cydneé Phoenix served as Vice President of Equal Employment Opportunity, Training and Community Relations for Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. In that role, Phoenix chaired the charitable giving committees, managed Revel’s training and performance initiatives, and designed and executed Revel’s Atlantic City hiring initiative and Second Chance Program for ex-offenders. With more than 20 years of experience in the private and nonprofit sectors, Phoenix also served as a director at INROADS in Washington, DC and Memphis, Tennessee. Phoenix attended Howard University and Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. A native of Atlantic City, she currently volunteers her time by serving on the boards of several nonprofit organizations and community groups.

Karen D. Jackson is a Pennsylvania-licensed Certified Public Accountant and has been an Accounting and Management Consultant for nearly a decade. Prior to Joining OIC, she served as the Director of Finance for the African American Museum in Philadelphia. She has also held various senior finance positions with Milligan & Company LLC, Lockheed Martin, and Exelon/PECO Energy. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Her professional activities include memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The Wharton Club, and the National Association of Black Accountants. She also served as a Board Member and Treasurer for Action AIDS for three years.

“The addition of these two accomplished women to our leadership team is a testament to the vision that our new president Dr. Kevin Johnson has for the future growth of OIC in Philadelphia,” said Atif Bostic, Chairman of the Board for Philadelphia OIC. “We are delighted to have Cydneé and Karen help lead this organization into the next 50 years.”
