Obituary: Public Relations CEO and community leader Lana Felton Ghee

Funeral services for Public Relations CEO Lana Felton Ghee were held on December 2, 2013 at Deliverance Evangelistic Church, 2001 West Lehigh Avenue.
Intermet followed at Ivy Hill Cemetery, 1201 Easton Road, Philadelphia. Mrs. Felton Ghee died November 24, 2013 after a brave battle with ALS. She was 66.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations/checks be made in honor of Lana Felton Ghee to: University of Penn ALS Fund, 5050 Overbrook Avenue,
Philadelphia, PA 19131.

On April 8,1947, Lana Jean Felton-Ghee was the first born to Howard and Vivian Henry in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from Germantown High School and
later attended Temple University, where she majored in Communications. She faithfully served at True Light Fellowship Church until her death.

In 1967, Lana married Shedrick Morris Felton II. From that union were born two children, Petra Felton and Shedrick Felton III.

Lana was an ambitious and tenacious woman, a trailblazer and champion for the African-American Community. She worked tirelessly as an independent voice in
the struggle for small businesses equality citywide. In 1976, she was selected to work on the Philadelphia Bicentennial Celebration.

She has held positions as Executive Director of 1199C Hospital Workers Union, Vice President of Government Affairs for Health Partners and Deputy City
Representative of the City of Philadelphia, from 1980 to 1991. She helped elect the Honorable W. Wilson Goode, the first African-American Mayor of
Philadelphia and was the Campaign Manager for the Honorable John F. Street, the second African-American Mayor of Philadelphia.

In 1995, she opened her own political consulting and Public Relations Firm, Lana Felton-Ghee Associates, Inc. (LFGA). Lana’s clients included national and
international companies. Lana’s company, LFGA Inc., served as a major resource and foundation for other African-American event professionals.

On New Years Eve 1984, she married Jimmy Ghee, a well respected Philadelphia Police Officer and father of Kevin and Theron Ghee. The two families together
raised four children.

Throughout her busy and successful career, Lana also made time for a fulfilling family life. She adored her family. Lana, the eldest of 17 children, often
nurtured her brothers and sisters. She spent most weekends and holidays surrounded by her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and cousins.

She leaves to cherish her memory husband, Jimmy Ghee, four children, Petra, Shedrick, Kevin, Theron (Sherri), 14 siblings Howard (Mattie), Raymond, Omar
(Tauheedah), Ava (Stewart), Blanche (Cyril), Gilda (Ricardo), Vanessa (Richard), Alexia, Mattie (Maurice), Mary (Curtis) and Myra (Charles), Donald, Lisa,
Elissa, eleven grandchildren, Justin, Kierra, Derek, Malik, Shedrick, Dante, Janai, Devon, Bruce, Bryce and Merrick, two aunts Dorothy and Clara,
mother-in-law Margaret Travers, the entire Felton Family and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lana also lovingly adopted her niece, Erica.

Lana is predeceased by her mother Vivian Henry, father Howard Henry, mother-in-law Vesta Ghee, siblings Frank, Steven and Roxanne.
