PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia-born rapper Meek Mill is calling on Pennsylvania lawmakers to reform the state’s parole and probation systems.

Mill appeared alongside Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf and a half-dozen state lawmakers Thursday at the Constitution Center to advocate for criminal justice reforms.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ordered Mill’s release from prison last week where he was serving a two- to four-year sentence on a probation violation related to a decade-old gun and drug conviction.

Since his release, Mill has spoken out about the need for reform. Wolf added his voice Thursday by reciting his wish list of initiatives including state funding for the public defender program and stricter limits to the length of parole and probation terms.

The Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association cautioned against rash reforms instead of thoughtful changes.
