Ken Johnson Director of Urban Programming for Clear Channel Radio in Philadelphia has announced the appointment of Kelly Mac to the position of Assistant Program /Music Director for Power 99 (WUSL FM) and 105.3 WDAS FM. Johnson says, “I don’t know if you have heard, but radio has a whole new set of challenges today.

To be prepared to handle what’s ahead, fresh ideas and a new commitment is needed. In bringing in Kelly as APD/MD for WUSL/WDAS, I am keeping with what I have learned is the Clear Channel way – ‘to lead the charge’. Kelly is one of the stand outs in the medium markets, who is deserving of an opportunity in a major market. I am excited to watch her take on this challenge. “

Kelly Mac is looking forward to the move to Philadelphia. “This is most certainly the largest jump in my career thus far! It’s a great honor to be granted the opportunity to work with two of the most prominent urban radio stations on the East Coast. I am ready to “Go hard in the paint” (as the young folks say) and I look forward to assisting & working with Ken Johnson & the tremendous On Air Staff on both radio stations! God is good, all the time!”

In 1999, Kelly Mac started off in radio as a part time receptionist for Radio One, Inc. With time and hard work, she was later promoted to Programming Assistant for WZAK & WENZ in Cleveland. Her diligent work, dedication & perseverance eventually led to her dream to become an on air personality.

Mac later relocated to Charleston, SC as the Assistant Program Director, Music Director & Afternoon Show Host for WWBZ. After a year, WWBZ changed formats so in May 2004, Kelly joined Charleston’s legendary station, WWWZ as the Night Show Host, where after 2 books, she achieved record Arbitron Ratings of 30+ shares in her targeted demo (18-34).

After spending two years in the Charleston, SC Market, K-Mac moved to the Gulf Coast to co-host mornings at WBLX in Mobile, Alabama. While co-hosting “The Official Gulf-Coast Wake-Up Party,” Kelly was a key factor in maintaining #1 ratings for the show

During her successful run at WBLX, Kelly was recruited to WJMZ, Greenville, SC where she served as APD/MD/On Air Personality for nearly five years. Kelly Mac set record numbers at WJMZ & received many prestigious awards. In 2007 the station was awarded the R&R Medium Market Station of the Year and in 2008, Mac was named the R&R “Medium Market On Air Personality of the Year.” In 2009, the station was awarded the NAB Marconi Award for “Urban Station of the Year” and the South Carolina Broadcasters Association recognized Mac as South Carolina’s “On Air Personality of the Year” and”Radio Show of the Year.” In September, the NAB named Kelly as the 2010 Marconi Recipient for “Medium Market On Air Personality.”

Kelly has a passion and desire to program radio. She enjoys family time, traveling, cooking, swimming, shooting pool & a variety of music. She also takes pride in helping out in the community and with Little League Baseball Teams. In addition she enjoys speaking to children about pregnancy Prevention & the importance of staying in school.
