Applications for the Hoopplex Business & Entrepreneurship Program opened to youth ages 14-19 this month. The 12-week professional training will introduce students to the digital media marketing, fashion marketing, and sports marketing industries.

The Hoopplex Business and Entrepreneurship program prepares participants to launch their own business, enter the workforce, or pursue higher education in one of these industries. Students will work with industry professionals in hands-on settings to learn brand development, social media advertising, event planning, sports marketing, fashion marketing, and more.  Hoopplex combines industries that have large youth target markets with high level training to create a unique curriculum that will help students overcome barriers to the workforce and become gainfully employed.

“The Hoopplex Business Program is different because we provide training for young people in industries that have very low barriers to entry”, said Kevin Cofield, Hoopplex founder.  “After completing the program, our students are prepared to either start their own business or actually find employment if they choose to. We’ve designed a program that will help young people launch sustainable careers.”

The Hoopplex Business & Entrepreneurship Program is offered by Hoopplex, LLC., which creates and produces unique events that highlight the concept of “Hoopplexing”, or the act of mixing basketball inspired products (apparel or footwear) into fashion.

In addition to the business and entrepreneurship training program, Hoopplex also hosts events for youth. These events provide a platform for self-expression through style and fashion. The events include an open mic aspect, where youth are able to perform. The youth are also given an opportunity to compete in the Hoopplex Challenge, where youth are crowed based on their Hoopplexing ability (mixing basketball fashion with street wear). These youth events are held every fourth Friday at 4809 Germantown Avenue. For more information about the business program or the youth events, visit www.hoopplex.com.
