The Community College of Philadelphia Foundation today announced a renewed commitment to diversity and inclusion in partnership with Parx Casino®. Over the next three years, Parx Casino will support College programming through a generous $144,000 grant – roughly $48,000 a year – dedicated to empowering traditionally underserved students attending the College.

The grant will ensure that the College continues to provide student scholarships, supports leadership conferences, and offers emergency funding to cover the cost of books, meals and transportation that benefit the diverse student body.

“The Community College of Philadelphia Foundation is extremely pleased to announce our continued partnership with Parx Casino,” said College vice president for institutional advancement and Foundation executive director Dr. Mellissia M. Zanjani. “As a first-generation College student with more than 25 years of experience in the higher education and not-for-profit sectors, I know firsthand the impact contributions like these have on student achievement. The College is grateful for Parx Casino’s unwavering support and outstanding commitment to student success.”

Programs at the College that will benefit from the grant include: the Center for Male Engagement; the Women’s Outreach and Advocacy Center; the Veterans Resource Center; the MarcDavid LGBTQ Center; the Center on Disability; the Office of Collegiate Recovery; and the annual Black and Gold Gala.

“Parx Casino is thrilled to continue our partnership with the Community College of Philadelphia and its important diversity, inclusion and equity initiative. We are pleased to provide financial contributions to the school; however, the true measure of success is the real-life engagement with the CCP students and our Parx team members. By mentoring, inspiring and helping students grow, together we create a lasting and meaningful component of this special partnership,” said Ron Davis M.Ed., chief diversity officer and director of community development at Parx Casino.

Since 2017, Parx Casino has provided the College with generous financial support to empower students, help them overcome any challenges they face and ensure they reach their academic and career goals.
