Congressman Brendan F. Boyle released the following statement after the announcement of a $633,600 grant award to the Philadelphia Housing Authority to assist disabled residents: “Being part of a community and living independently is an aspiration shared by many disabled people,” Boyle said in the statement.

“Too often, many of those in the disabled community encounter unforeseen barriers to accessible and affordable housing.

The unintended consequences of those roadblocks can push many of our disabled residents toward lives of homelessness and institutionalization.

This grant will positively serve our disabled community and will help combat this recurring problem for Philadelphia’s disabled community by increasing their access to affordable homes and supportive services for our most vulnerable.”
