Introducing some of the region’s most talented singers, musicians and performing artists to the community, every fourth Friday of the month
On Friday, January 27 at 7:00 PM, Art Sanctuary, located on 628 South 16th Street, will introduce their monthly live music showcase with a performance by bassist and composer Jonathan Michel.
Born and raised in Waterbury, CT, Michel has spent the past eight years earning a reputation as one of the East Coast’s in-demand bassists. Michel’s compositions are inspired by his Haitian heritage, and include arrangements of cultural melodies.
Along with his work on the local Philadelphia scene, Michel has spent much of the past few years serving residencies around the world, and performing regularly with pianist Orrin Evans, Aaron Goldberg, Tim Warfield, and Denise King. Accompanying Michel at Art Sanctuary’s music showcase will be pianist Willerm Delisfort, drummer Anwar Marshall, and saxophonist Godwin Louis.
Art Sanctuary will host the monthly live music showcase every fourth Friday. From progressive jazz-fusion to backpack-and-hoodie hip hop, Art Sanctuary will be the spot for a variety of sounds and styles.
Admission for the music showcase is $5. Price includes one drink. Attendees must be 21 or older. Tickets can be purchased at the door, by calling (215) 232-4485, or by visiting http://jonathanmichellive.eventbrite.com/.
This event is sponsored by One Book One Philadelphia 2012.
