Online nominations voting opens December 9th

Los Angeles–Online voting will begin on December 9th, officially completing this year’s record breaking submissions process for the 45th NAACP Image
Awards. Members of the 300-person Nominating Committee, and 20 sub-committees will have until December 30, 2013 to select from nearly 1,600 entries for the
54 award categories.

The number of submissions received this year is unprecedented and due largely to the ability to submit online. Also contributing to this year’s highest
level of participation ever, was the increased number of quality projects and performances across motion pictures, television, recording and literature.

“We have always received submissions each year from the best of the best in their respective categories, but this year’s level of interest in the NAACP
Image Awards has been truly astounding” commented Leonard James, III, Chairman, NAACP Image Awards.

Additionally, introduced for the first time, was a way for entrants to digitally connect with the Nominating Committee members via the “For Your
Consideration” banner ad campaign. Through which, those vying for a nomination are able to bring direct awareness of their projects to Nominating Committee
and Sub-Committee members via banner advertisements, allowing a vehicle to bring awareness to lesser know, quality projects, actors, performers and
authors.

“Each year, we have taken innovative steps in moving the NAACP Image Awards submissions process more and more into the digital age and uniquely prepare us
to stay competitive in the industry,” said Robin Harrison of the NAACP Hollywood Bureau.

For the first time ever, nominees will be announced at the Television Critic Association Winter Press Tour on January 9, 2014, in Pasadena. The 45th NAACP
Image Awards will be broadcast live from Pasadena on Saturday, February 22, 2014 on TV One.
