All Signs:  We are smack dab in the middle of Mercury retrograde. The retrograde times for 2018 are: Mar. 22-April 15 (in Aries); July 26-Aug. 18 (in Leo); and Nov. 16-Dec. 6 (in Sagittarius slipping back into Scorpio). These are wonderful times to wrap up projects and reflect. They’re great for research, studying history and delving into the past. They are poor times to open a business or initiate something new. They are also poor times to buy Mercury -related items, like ground transportation (cars, trucks, bikes) and communication items – computers, printers and cell phones. With big ticket items, allow several weeks buffer time on either side of these dates. Please memorize this information because there will be a midterm on Thursday.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Every Mercury retrograde attracts people from our past out of the woodwork. Because this Mercury retrograde is in your sign, you will hear for sure from ex-partners and old friends. You will also undergo the classic frustrations of misplacing stuff, forgetting things, missing appointments, being confused by mixed-up communications and suffering from transportation delays and goofy errors. But you have the advantage because you can use Mercury retrograde! You can go back to something you’ve been meaning to finish and suddenly – voila! It’s done! Who more than you has tons of onoing projects? (You love to begin new things.) Now retrograde Mercury will help you finish. (Yes, the F word!)

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

You are another sign that will benefit from this Mercury retrograde. (Each Mercury retrograde takes place in a different sign and there are generally three retrogrades each year.) This week is fabulous for research of any kind! You will delve into the past with ease – like a hot knife cutting through butter. History projects, seeking answers and solutions to old problems, plus counseling through psychoanalysis will be productive for you. (“Tell me about your first sexual experience.” Sigmund Freud was a Taurus.) Be patient with delays and silly errors because you will reap marvelous benefits this week if you know how to use Mercury retrograde to your advantage. Meanwhile, this is still a great time to buy wardrobe goodies. Do yourself this favor.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Because Mercury is your ruler, you always feel Mercury retrograde no matter what sign it’s in. But I like to think that this also means you can use Mercury retrograde more easily than other signs. For example, this week you can finish certain goals that you set for yourself before. You can especially wrap up a project or an agenda that you already initiated with a group. Younger people will help you. Meanwhile, you will encounter friends and people from clubs and organizations – but these contacts could benefit you. Someone might tell you something that is the exact thing you needed to hear – like the missing piece to the puzzle. Think positive and see what happens!

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

This particular Mercury retrograde is at the top of your chart, which means it will involve authority figures in your life (parents, bosses, VIPs and even the police). This involvement will be based upon previous actions. Furthermore, to use this Mercury retrograde to your advantage, it means these people you encounter will help you finish something you wanted to achieve. They can put you in touch with someone. They can give you final approval. Perhaps you just need their encouragement or advice? If there is someone like this in your past that you hesitated to contact – summon up the courage and do it this week! Generally, people are flattered when you solicit their advice. It shows you respect them.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

While some signs easily use Mercury retrograde to their advantage, you will suffer from delays with travel. Mixed-up reservations, hours spent in airports, double bookings and car problems might plague your week. But lo! What news from yonder modem breaks? Where Mercury retrograde can bless you is it will help you to finish school papers, finish that manuscript, study for tests, do school research and finish projects related to medicine and the law. If you’re writing a magazine article or anything related to the media, this will go swiftly. You might succeed in contacting a teacher/guru figure you wanted to reach. (“Professor Pippy Peepee Poopypants? This is Professor Dumbledore.”)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

There’s no moss growing on you! Like Gemini, Mercury is your ruler; and while you feel the frustrations, delays and confused communications of Mercury retrograde, like Gemini, you have the inside track on how to use Mercury retrograde so that you come out smelling like a — Virgo. This week you will wrap up many different details that are things we all want to finish and put behind us. You will finish business that ia tax related or anything to do with debt, paying bills, dealing with insurance matters, inheritances, wills and estates. All that fun stuff. But how wonderful to get it done and off your plate! You might also end a dispute or clarify confusion about shared property. Make Mercury work for you!

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

The last time Mercury was retrograde opposite your sign was one year ago in April. Before that, it was in March 2012. When Mercury is retrograde opposite your sign, you have to deal with ex-spouses, ex-partners and old friends. You will encounter them in person or on the Internet; or they might be involved indirectly in your life. Whatever – they’re back! (Take heart – this will not happen again until April 2024.) Naturally, you will demonstrate grace under pressure. It’s not just that you need to show someone what they missed. What’s more important is to show them who you are now. Hey – you’re a class act! And since you’re earning more money this year, you look like one, too. Ta da!

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

The thing to remember about Mercury retrograde is that it wants life to go backwards – not forwards. This is why there are transportation delays. It’s also why the mail is late. But if you can think of anything you need to do where you need to “go backwards,” then you’re laughing! The particular areas that you can work with this week relate to your job, your health, and anything to do with pets. So yes, your job will suffer from goofy errors, delays and mistakes in communications. But you can also finish projects and wrap up stuff that’s been sitting around getting dusty. You can resume ambitious plans to improve your health. Get back in the saddle! Whether it’s a diet or an exercise regime – don’t give up!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

This week you will be able to finish anything related to professional sports or the arts. Those of you who have projects on the go related to hobbies and creative activities will also finish what you started. You might finish a writing project, a screenplay, a painting, a song, a quilt, a sculpture, a building idea, a playground or anything you started to create for children. Don’t let these areas nag you anymore. Roll up your sleeves and finish them! Admittedly, old flames might be back in your life in person or indirectly. This can be both unnerving and exciting. Depends on the history, doesn’t it? This can be a thrilling, fun week!

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

The downside of this particular Mercury retrograde is that it will attract relatives and people to your home that you would rather not have. (“My fridge is bare!”) You might have to deal with that brother-in-law who always annoyed you. (You have my sympathies.) The upside is that family discussions will be able to plow through unfinished business and get stuff done! This will be productive and beneficial for everyone. You can put your cards on the table and clarify boundaries. You can definitely finish DIY projects that have been lingering. (You know who you are.) Mars in your sign gives you have boundless energy this week! Don’t waste it.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

I have to come clean. This particular Mercury retrograde is tough for your sign. Ironically, it’s because it takes place in the “home” of Mercury, which means it really goes postal! Transportation delays, especially due to missed buses and trains or the breakdown of automobiles and trucks will be classic. Flat tires, you name it. One time I had three flat tires in a Mercury retrograde – about 10 years ago. Old friends, siblings and relatives might also be back on the scene. But you can study very efficiently! You can learn something you’ve been trying to master. You can wrap up writing projects. You can also wrap up sales deals! (“Just sign here.”) Go for Baroque!

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Financial frustrations this week will be par for the course because this particular Mercury retrograde is taking place in your House of Earnings. One classic example will be checks in the mail will be late. Money and cash meant to come to you will be delayed. Furthermore, there will be errors and mistakes in cash and financial transactions, so double check everything. Don’t inadvertently throw out checks in the trash. (It happens!) The good news is you can go after money that is owed to you. You can wrap up financial deals. You can finish projects that relate to how you earn your money. (Do not confuse this with opening a new business.) Trust everyone – and always lock your door.
