According to reports, fans of DMX’s rallied Easter Sunday outside White Plains Hospital in Westchester County, New York, where at press time the 50-year-old rapper remained on life support after collapsing at his home in White Plains on April 2. Supporters of the Mount Vernon, New York native rode motorcycles and sported jackets and t-shirts from his Ruff Ryders Collective, as they gathered together to offer their favorite artist support. On April 5, the Ruff Ryders to the Rescue Foundation held a prayer vigil at the hospital. As some of his 17 children by nine different women flew to New York to be by their father’s side as he battles serious health issues, DMX’s family is “asking everyone to keep him in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers, as well as respect their privacy as they face these challenges.” ………
Tongues are wagging that April 4th’s 27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which honored some of best performances in film and television of the year, made history with all four film acting categories going to people of color for the first time ever. The statuettes were won by Daniel Kaluuya, the late Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis and Korean actress Youn Yuh-jung for “Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role” for “Minari.” Meanwhile, Davis, who won for “Best Female Actress” for her title role in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” stunned on the virtual red carpet, wearing a custom Louis Vuitton column gown with a deep -V neckline and shoulder padding featuring more than 10,000 silver and gold metallic sequins, which took 140 hours to make………
Actress Tsebiyah Derry, who made her Broadway debut in 2018 in “Rocktopia,” is slaying music streaming platforms with her new love ballad, “Coastline,” which is slated to become 2021’s hottest song of the spring and summer. The daughter of acclaimed vocal coach Craig Derry, who has trained award-winning vocalists such as Alicia Keys, Katy Perry and “The Voice” alumnus Foushee’, Tsebiyah’s greatest wish for “Coastline” is that it be featured on the final season of Issa Rae’s “Insecure.” $40 million producer/actress Rae recently tweeted that she is looking for a love song for the show. She won’t go wrong if she selects “Coastline.”……….
Stage Entertainment and Ghostlike Records have announced that “Tina-The Tina Turner Musical: Original Cast Recording” is now available on vinyl. Featuring Tony Award-nominee Adrienne Warren and the original London cast, the album was released for download, streaming, and CD formats in 2019. The LP includes liner notes, synopsis, and production and studio photography. “Tina- The Tina Turner Musical” is currently nominated for twelve 2021 Tony Awards, including “Best Musical.”………
