Martin Lawrence and his longtime girlfriend, Shamicka Gibbs, were married in an intimate wedding on July 10 at the actor’s home in Beverly Hills. Martin and Shamicka exchanged Christian vows in the backyard in front of 120 guests, including Eddie Murphy and Denzel Washington. Their daughters Amara 9 and Iyanel 7, and Martin’;s daughter, Jasmine 14, from his marriage to Patricia Smith, were flower girls. The four-course sit-down dinner, catered by Tres LA, included salad, crab cakes and salmon, Martin’;s favorite dish. The four-tiered wedding cake was by Rosebud Cakes in Beverly Hills.

Speaking of wedding cakes, Carmelo Anthony and LaLa Vasquez’s wedding may have taken a minute to say “I Do,” but the cake took a week to make. “We used the special monogram created for the couple; interwoven double L’;s and a C,” Ken Ben-Israel tells Life & Style. His company, Ken Ben-Israel Cakes in New York City, baked the cake. Carmelo’s favorite color is red, So that’s why the couple chose to serve red velvet cake as well as use red icing. Plus, Ben-Israel employed a staff of eight to craft the 100 plus sugary flower ornamated velvet cake, which fed such celebrity guests as Kim Kardashian, LeBron James, Justin Timberlake, Khloe Kardashian and husband Lamar Odom.

Everyone’s still buzzing about Sunday’s Inaugural Leaders, Achievers and Pioneers Awards Brunch in the Hamptons. Diversity Affluence, the marketing consulting firm headed by the gorgeous and brilliant Andrea Hoffman and her equally handsome and genius business partner, Attorney Bernard Jackson III, launched the event at East Quogue’s lovely Dockers Waterside Restaurant and Marina. This fabulous series of events, sponsored by Jaguar and the all-new Jaguar XJ sedan, honors outstanding individuals from a variety of fields. Desiree Dancy, the New York Times Company VP of Diversity and Inclusion was feted at the event, along with super chef and Food Network star Aaron Sanchez and the one and only Stuart Scott of ESPN. We all enjoyed the specialty cocktails courtesy of Moet and Chandon, the world’s most loved champagne, and Belvedere Vodka. A good time was definitely had by all and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next event in this ultra-exclusive, ultra posh Awards Series. In the meantime, I will continue to dream about my wonderful experience test driving the new Jag XJ!

Serena Williams hosted a pre-ESPY Awards party in Los Angeles on Monday night at a private mansion in Bel Air. Best friend Selita Ebanks was there to show support, as was big sister Venus Williams. This year’s nominees include LeBron James and Kobe Bryant for Best Male Athlete and, of course, Serena for Best Female Athlete. Other celebs in the house included Garcelle Beauvais, Boris Kodjoe, Michael Strahan, Lance Gross and Elise Neal.
