Stars of the upcoming movie “Air,” including Viola Davis, her husband Julius Tennon, Chris Tucker, Matt Damon and Marlon Wayans, along with the film’s director, Ben Affleck and his wife Jennifer Lopez, attended the movie’s world premiere on March 27 at the Regency Theatre in Los Angeles. “Air” tells the story of the game-changing partnership between Michael Jordan when he was a rookie and Nike’s fledgling basketball division which created the Air Jordan shoe brand. Oscar winner Davis stars as Michael’s mother, Deloris Jordan.

One year after his passing in January 2022, noted two-time Grammy winner James Mtume (known for hits such as “Juicy Fruit” and producing for Roberta Flack, Donny Hathaway and Stephanie Mills) will be honored in his hometown of Philadelphia, PA with a street bearing his name. The event will take place on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 11 am to 2 pm ET.  The 1500 block of Wharton Street will carry the namesake of Mtume, who was born and raised in South Philly. Faulu Mtume, son of the music legend, will accept this honor on behalf of his father’s estate. Faulu Mtume said, “It’s beyond words just how great this is, the City of Brotherly Love showing a mighty love for my father, a Philly native. Wharton Street is where his journey into music, social activism, and politics had begun. The roots for all three are there.”

TThe final episode of “Omarion Presents: Omega — The Gift and the Curse” will air on ALLBLK, Monday, April 3. Tongues are wagging that Malia Obama, the eldest daughter of former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama is doing very well working behind the scenes in Hollywood. Following her graduation from Harvard University, Malia did an internship at disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein’s company in New York City before heading out to Los Angeles where she currently works. The former first daughter is one of co-writers of Amazon Prime’s new hit show “Swarm,” which is created by Donald Glover. However, in the writing credits, Malia reportedly uses the “Malia Alice” which sources say is the name she is known as around Hollywood.
