After Beyonce’ released a statement earlier this week, saying she and her dad, Mathew Knowles, have parted ways “on a business level” and that he is her “father for life and she loves him deeply,” even though he will no longer manage her, Mathew issued the following statement: “The decision for Beyonce’ and Music World Entertainment to part was mutual. We did great things together, and I know that she will continue to conquer new territories in music and entertainment.” Mathew went on to say that business is business and family is family. Said Knowles: “I love my daughter and am very proud of who she is and all that she has achieved.”
Aretha Franklin’s 69th birthday bash at the Park Lane Hotel in New York City on March 25 is still the talk of the town. Earlier that evening, the Queen of Soul hosted an intimate gathering at the elgant French restaurant La Grenouille where, dressed in a black St. John suit, she hosted two tables of friends and family members. Celebs who joined her later at the Park Lane and dined on lobster salad, coconut shrimp, salmon mousseline and Aretha’s own recipe for baked ham included Smokey Robinson, Tony Bennett, Bette Midler, Al Roker and Deborah Roberts and Gayle King.
On Sunday, April 3, the world famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, will hold Spring auditions for its signature program, Amateur Night, at the Museum of the City of New York, current home to the Apollo’s exhibit “Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing.” Amateur Night producer, Marion J. Caffey feels holding auditions at the museum is the perfect place to inspire potential contestants.
Comedian Craig Robinson and “The Blind Side” star Quentin Aaron have been hanging with the real big boys. The two gents recently were spotted hanging out at the Playboy Mansion in Bel Air, California, smoking Camacho cigars.
After announcing her line if nail polish with OPI on “Oprah” a year ago, tennis ace Serena Williams will reportedly be debuting the collection in time for the French Open in May. Called Glam Slam! France Collection, there are two shades of polish – Spark de Triomphe in glittery silver and Rally Pretty Pink. The colors come with a Shatter polish which provides a broken or shattered effect as it dries.
