Quincy to take charge in remastering “Off the Wall”

Aretha Franklin’s cousin says the ailing legendary singer is “doing better than doctors expected” and was due to be released from the hospital last weekend. Brenda Corbett told the Detroit Free Press that Franklin “has a long life in front of her and will be back in concert on stage, late spring or early summer.” The Rev. Jesse Jackson told the Associated Press that he visited Aretha four or five times and her spirits “are high and her faith is strong.”


Sources connected with the Michael Jackson/Sony deal tell TMZ….among the albums in the works is a remaster of “Off The Wall” with the help of none other than Quincy Jones. Part of the plan is for Quincy to take charge of the project which will include some never-before-heard out takes. Another album will feature the soundtrack to the upcoming Jackson-themed Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas. There are reports circulating that Sony will release ten original albums, but that’s not true. In addition to the release of “Michael,” this past Tuesday, sources say there will be at least one other album with original songs and at most two.



Chelsea Handler and 50 Cent aren’t afraid of a little virtual PDA. On Monday, the 35 year-old “Chelsea Lately” hostess tweeted a photo of herself planting a kiss on the rapper’s cheek as the two cuddled in bed. “I don’t know why anyone thinks I would ever date a rapper,” Chelsea teased in the caption. The duo were first spotted together in October, when they shared a romantic evening at a New Orleans bar. 50 visited the the comedienne in Newark, New Jersey just last week.


Another day. Another big purchase for Beyonce’. On December 4, it was leaked that the superstar songstress had purchased a $2 million Bugatti to surprise her hubby Jay-Z on his 41st birthday. After that grand gesture, the superstar whisked him off to Australia for more celebrating his big day. And, Ms. Moneybags was spotted carrying a $30,000 black spiked Hermes Birken Bag while having lunch with Jay-Z at the exclusive Marina Mirage Compex in Main Beach, Queensland, Australia. From there, Jay-Z caught up with Oprah to tape her “Oprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure” at the Sydney Opera House.
