On August 13, Steve Harvey hosted another sold-out year of the 9th Annual Ford Hoodie Awards at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Celebs including Jill Scott, Kevin Hart, Tamara Tunie, Tichina Arnold, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Hill Harper and others turned out in fine fashion as they joined Harvey and presenting sponsor, Ford, to entertain and honor the everyday men and women who impact and uplift their communities with service and excellence.

Speaking of Hill Harper, the “CSI:NY” star will be signing his new book, “The Wealth Cure,” on August 23 at Harlem, New York’s Hue-Man bookstore at 6 p.m. “The Wealth Cure,” gets to the heart of the matter and like Hill, is brilliant. Hue-Man as been the place to be this summer. African-American/Korean entrepreneur Marja Vongerichten, also held a signing for her cookbook “the kimchi chronicles” on August 15 at the fabulous store.

Once again, Dr. and Mrs. Jesse R. Goodale III are presenting their Hamptons’ Annual Summer Scholarship Fundraiser, “An Affair To Remember,” on August 20 at their home in Flanders, New York. The evening raises money for the Tara L. Stevens Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Goodale Productions Scholarships. The Tara L. Stevens Memorial Scholarship Fund is very close and personal to the Goodales. On September 3, 2003, Dhonna’s youngest sister, Tara, a mother of two, was just short of obtaining her nursing degree when her life was tragically ended by her husband. She was only 25 years old. This year’s stellar talent line-up inludes New York Times Bestselling Author Dr. Sha, Erotic Spoken Word Artist Vincent Tyler, Protekted Records rapper Tricosta and R&B sensation Victoria Giler. For the third year in a row, Yours Truly, will host.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, guests at Sherri Shepherd’s wedding were shocked that other than Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who was a bridesmaid, none of her other “View” co-hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, and Joy Behar showed up. Anyway, prior to the wedding, Sherri and her groom, Lamar Sally, posed for pictures on top of a Chicago double decker tour bus. On Sunday morning, the couple hosted a breakfast/brunch for their wedding party and out-of-town guests and that evening, they dined alone at the Windy City’s Gibsons Steakhouse.

Word is Jennifer Hudson and Terrence Howard will walk the red carpet at the Toronto Film Festival with director Darrell J. Roodt into Roy Thomson Hall for a world premiere of “Winnie,” the Canada/South African co-produced biopic about Winnie Mandela. The Toronto International Film Festival is set to run from September 8 to 18.
