Tyler Perry has signed a deal for a third series on TBS called “For Better Or Worse,” a dramedy based on his “Why Did I Get Married” franchise. Michael Jai White and Tasha Smith are set to reprise their roles as television anchor Marcus and salon owner Angela. Like Perry’s past TBS projects, “House of Payne” and “Meet The Browns,” the series will roll out with 10 episodes. It will launch this fall. just as Tyler wraps production on “Payne” after 222 episodes. Says Tyler:”Even though it will be sad to say goodbye to ‘House of Payne,’ I’m really looking forward to explaining new territory with ‘For Better Or Worse.”
Although Beyonce’ and Jay-Z have been invited to attend and take the stage during Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding, Bey’s rep told “Entertainment Tonight”: “The ceremony is not on her schedule and she has a shoot in New York on Saturday.” There’s still no word on whether Jay-Z will perform at the royal affair.
The Greater New York Chapter of The Links held their annual Women of Distinction Spirit Award Luncheon over Easter weekend and it was packed with powerhouse ladies of all backgrounds – lawyers, doctors, teachers, CEOs and entrepreneurs. President Gerri Warren-Merrick and the luncheon co-chairs honored Debra Lee, CEO of BET and Rhonda Mims, President of ING Foundation and SVP of Corporate Responsibility. The elegant luncheon also featured a fabulous fashion show with the latest designs from Stephen Burrows. It was a wonderful celebration for a great cause.
Aretha Franklin sat down with People Magazine about all the things she wants to do before she dies. The Queen of Soul revealed that her bucket list includes sailing the Nile River, seeing the Pyramids and the Sphinx, starring on Broadway and having tea with the Queen of England. Aretha doesn’t know when she’ll start checking things off this list since she is “really taking far better care of herself” and “feels fabulous.”
Hip-Hop R&B star Lil Mo joined the production of “The Color Purple, The Musical of Love,” at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. over the Easter weekend. She was featured as the Church Soloist. Lil Mo will also be releasing the single “On The Floor” from her upcoming CD “P.S. I Love Me” on Bronx Bridge Entertainment, out this summer.
