“Breakout Kings” star Laz Alonso has teamed up with Cadillac for the American Black Film Festival and will be in the Cadillac Lounge. HBO, Grey Goose and Team Sizzle Worldwide lead a stellar group of corporate partners, which also include Cadillac, GMC Television Network, American Airlines, Gold Peak Tea, Wells Fargo and AT&T as sponsors of te 15th Annual American Black Film Festival (ABFF). Taking place in beautiful South Beach- Miami, Florida, July 6-9, the ABFF has again received strong support from returning as well as new sponsors on its landmark 15th anniversary. Says ABFF Founder Jeff Friday: “Each year, I am humbled by the outpouring of support that our sponsors demonstrate. It is a true testament of their commitment to go beyond the traditional boundaries of marketing partnerships by taking an active role in content integration as well as new programs and events that heighten the festivals experience for filmmakers, artists, industry executives and attendees.
Overjoyed first time parents Tia Mowry and husband Cory Hardrict said hello to their first child, an 8 pound boy in Los Angeles on June 28, and the actors have named their son Cree Taylor Hardrict. Tia’s first time pregnancy will be documented on “Tia and Tamera,” a docu-series costarring her twin sister, Tamera, which debuts in August on the Style Network.
According to reports, Halle Berry went to family court on June 28, complaining her baby daddy, Gabriel Aubry, violated the custody agreement they struck over Nahla, and to reinforce her point, her attorney submitted a lengthy court document claiming Gabriel has put Nahla at risk. Sources say Halle is concerned for 3 year-old Nahla when she’s in the care of Gabriel. The lengthy documents go into great detail about Gabriel’s parenting skills, claiming there was one incident overseas when Gabriel allegedly neglected Nahla, imperiling her safety.
My sources tell me that the upcoming adcolor Live event at Time Warner Center’s fab Park Cafe in New York City will be the place to be. They plan to announce the 2011 Adcolor Industry Award Honoree and a major celebrity will be honored when the Adcolor Conference kicks off in Los Angeles in September. There’s still time to nominate candidates for the other categories, so check out www.nominate.adcolor.org. Past honorees include Queen Latifah and Magic Johnson. My main girl LaToya Jackson was in Chicago recently to promote her new memoir “Starting Over,” and besides appearing on numerous TV shows, including WLS-Channel 7, and eating at Sunda, she had a book signing at the Barnes and Noble on Webster. The Chicago Sun Times reports that Gary, Indiana resident Gordon Keith stopped by the signing, to say hello to Toy, and bought a book, which she autographed. Keith was one of the owners of the now-defunct Steel Town Records that produced the Jackson Five’s first hit song “Big Boy.”….
