Jazz musician extraordinaire Norman Connors spread “Valentine Love” in New York City, as his audience sang, danced and reminisced a sweeter time in life, as the music brought back soulful memories. Martinez Little, Lori Jenaire, Suzanne Burgess and Kimberla Parrot, along with an incredible band under the direction of James Preston, brought the house down in a show that was hosted by Dr. Jeff Gardere. People traveled from as far as Beverly Hills, Chicago, Philadelphia and Connecticut just to be part of this love celebration. Executive Producer Roz Nixon said: “We were all joyfully serenaded by Norman Connors’ greatest hits like “Betcha By Golly Wow,” “You Are My Starship,” “This Is Your Life” and more. The evening was co-sponsored by Miss Jessie’s Hair Care, ALoft Harlem, BKL OPL Cosmetics and Marriott International………
Celebrity author and philanthropist Jean Shafiroff and Martin Shafiroff hosted a reception on Manhattan’s Upper East Side on Tuesday, February 27 to celebrate New York City Mission Society’s annual Champion for Children Gala, which raises funds to support youth and families in New York City’s most underserved communities to break the cycle of poverty and achieve success. This year’s honorees are BNY Mellon, International Flavors and Fragrances, and LTC Francis Kairson, Jr., Director Emeritus at New York City Mission Society. This year’s Gala Chairs are Katrina and Don Peebles, Lea and Stanley H. Rumbough and Jean and Martin Shafiroff. The Gala will be held on Thursday, April 24 at the Mandarin Oriental in Manhattan…………

The Greater New York Chapter of The Links, Incorporated (GNY) recently hosted an afternoon of learning and engagement as part of a national initiative to advance and promote STEM Education among minority youth. Presented by the GNY Links International Trends and National Trends Facets, STEM-ulate NY: Future Thinkers was aptly held at New York University Tandon School of Engineering at Brooklyn’s Metro Tech Center. Nearly 20 students were in attendance, each receiving the benefit of one-on-one exchange and cross-disciplinary insights from NYU School of Engineering students, who volunteered their time to work with the elementary school students on various aspects of the STEM curriculum. Among the participating students were 14 children from Harlem’s Promise Academy II charter school…….
