Word is Janet Jackson will make her only concert appearance of 2010 at this year’s Essence Music Festival on July 4th weekend in New Orleans. This performance will be Janet’s debut at the Essence Music Festival, as well as her first full concert since 2008. Janet joins Mary J. Blige and Alicia Keys on the all-star lineup. She is scheduled to perform on July 2nd, the opening night of the festival. The announcement coincided with the release of Janet’s iTunes song “Nothing,” the theme song she performs, co-wrote and co-produced for Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too, which opens April 2. Janet is one of the stars of the magnificent flick.
Seemingly putting the rumors to rest that she is with child, Beyonce’ Knowles partied hearty on March 27 in Las Vegas. The sexy songstress wore a skin-tight gold-sequin dress as she rocked the Tao Nightclub with husband Jay-Z following his Las Vegas concert. Says one fellow party-goer: “She was sipping on Ace of Spades champagne and the group was out until 4 AM. She was having a lot of fun and dancing.”
Jason Maddox, 29-year-old fashion, editorial and art photographer, recently opened a state-of-the-art photo studio in downtown Los Angeles. Famed architect Joseph Giovanni designed both the building and the Jason Maddox Photo Studio. Jason, the scion of a long line of Los Angeles business pioneers, is also a filmmaker, who last year executive produced Beyond The Ring, the true story of a Mixed Martial Arts fighter. Says Jason: “Photography represents my personal outlook on life, what I see and what I am feeling at the time.”
Rihanna celebrated her amazing Kids’ Choice Awards performance on March 27, with a trip to Bar 210 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles – but it wasn’t all champagne and laughs. A source at the bar tells Hollywoodlife.com that Rihanna’s bodyguard got into an altercation with a yet-to-be-identified man at around 1 AM and ended up hitting him. A source, who says singer Katy Perry was also at the bar, told Hollywoodlife.com the cops were called and people were told to leave. An employee at the Beverly Hilton says the man who got hit was actually a stalker and RiRi’s bodyguard stepped in to protect her.
T.I. began three years on probation for his federal conviction of possession of silencers, machine guns and other weapons on March 26. For the next 23 days, he will have to observe a curfew – home by 11 PM, unless he has a concert, which pushes the deadline back two hours. His attorney says that T.I. has been working and he intends to continue working, which includes being in the recording studio and performing concerts.
