According to reports, Beyonce’ will be joining your Thanksgiving dinner this year with a television special of her “I Am……World Tour.” The special will air on ABC on November 25. In a 90-minute show, the special will feature performances, backstage moments and special appearances by Jay-Z and Kanye West.

Congratulations to my dear friend and colleague Audrey J. Bernard on receiving the Thurgood Marshall College Fund 2010 Prestige Awards on October 31 at the elegant offices of Louis Vuitton. The Lifestyles, Fashion & Beauty/Society Editor of the New York Beacon, Audrey has tirelessly chronicled the lives of this nation’s most glamorous African Americans since I first came to New York. I admire her exuberance, tenacity, brilliance and her style. In an act of honor and total selflessness, Audrey asked another special colleague, Don Thomas, to stand with her as she accepted her award. She is a true lady and a class act!

Scrumptious Harlem bakery Make My Cake’s Jo Ann Baylor stole the show when members of Great Women In Music presented Gloria Lynne with a masterpiece cake to celebrate and surprise the jazz icon for a pre-happy birthday. The multi-layered beautifully decorated cake entered the stage ablaze bringing Ms. Lynne to tears of joy. Now in its 10 season, Great Women In Music Festivals are an ongoing celebration of the many contributions women have made to music and the world. On Friday, October 22, at the Schomburg Library in Harlem, special guest Ebony J-Ann and Congressman Charles Rangel, took to the stage and shared their love and heartfelt Gloria Lynne stories for all to hear. Ms. Lynne performed a full concert. Sponsors included Moet Hennessy, Elizabeth Arden, Heineken USA and Rosebud of New York. The after-party featured delicious food from some of Harlem’s most popular haunts like Grand Piatto, Amor Cubano, Ricardo Steak House, Aqua Fresca and Pleasant Pastries. Kudos to Roz Nixon for another fabulous year!

Nicki Minaj…look out! There’s another hot young raptress on the scene. 17-year-old Indigo Vanity, who hails from Los Angeles, is heating up the hip hop world with her new single “Just Party.” The former beauty queen, who is hailed by her fans as the Queen of Jerk, the West Coast dance craze that has taken over dance floors around the world, drops her Mixed CD on November 19. With her stunning beauty and eclectic style, Indigo Vanity, is just what the hip hop world needs to infuse a breath of fresh air into this important genre of music.

Songwriter/Singer/Comedienne Tanyayette C. Willoughby (Tanya Be) gave a very talented group of young people a very special way to celebrate Halloween on October 30. Handing out oversized rainbow colored lollipops, the sexy songstress also treated the kids to a special night in the studio for a recording session “Up With Children/Artist “Tanya Be.” For some of the children, it was their first time in a recording studio. Tanya Be’s consultant and rap artist Brian “Golden Boy-Jerzy Jerz” Carter, also recorded a song he wrote earlier that day called “Sxy Lady.” You’ll be hearing a lot more from Tanya Be in the near future.
