My colleagues over at the Confidential column at the New York Daily News are reporting that Solange Knowles’ elevator attack on her brother-in-law Jay Z on May 5 at a Met Gala After-party in the Boom Boom Room at the Standard Hotel was ignited because the rap mogul had plans to head to Rihanna’s After-party without Beyonce’ . Jay and Solange had already exchanged words over her not-so-fanous friends dropping his name in the hotel’s lobby to gain access to the party. he reportedly told Solange: “Don’t use my name.” When Solange found out about Jay’s after-after party plans, she asked him: “Why can’t you go home,” then asked Beyonce: “Why does your husband need to go to the club right now?” Jay Z then reportedly told Solange: “You’re one to talk.” Then, they stepped on the elevator and the rest is history. Solange is now reportedly back home in New Orleans……..
Meanwhile, all was well with Beyonce and Solange a few days later. On May 9, the sisters witnessed Kelly Rowland and Tim Witherspoon getting married in an intimate ceremony in Costa Rica. Beyonce and Solange reportedly flew to the wedding together in a private jet on May 8, just days after Solange kicked and punched Jay Z. They were joined at Kelly’s wedding by their mother, Tina Knowles, and after spending a few days in the country, they left early on Saturday morning, May 10. Sources say Jay Z did not travel with them. Kelly’s wedding was said to be a “quick, simple ceremony with only around 30 people” in attendance…………
Jean Shafiroff, Chairwoman and Honorary Board Member, and Patrick McMullan, Honorary Board Member, hosted the “Pit Bulls as Pets” cocktail party to raise awareness for the adoption of pit bulls for the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, at the Shafiroff, Park Avenue, New York City residence the evening of May 2. Bella, Jean’s tan and white pit bull, greeted guests at her home and proved that with love and care this breed can make wonderful pets. The kick-off party was held to celebrate the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation’s 5th Annual Gala, which will take place July 19 in Southampton honoring Georgina Bloomberg. May has become the month of Jean Shafiroff. Not only was the philanthropist honored by The Surgeons of Hope on May 4, but she is also on the cover of the May issue of Resident Magazine’s Philanthropy issue………
It looks like May is also the month for naming streets in honor of New York City legends. On May 14, there was a street signing ceremony honoring the life and legacy of Soul Food Queen Sylvia Woods in Harlem on Lenox Avenue between 126th and 127th streets. Then, on May 26, Miles Davis Way will be unveiled on the Upper West Side on West 77th Street between Riverside Drive and West End Avenue. It was at this location that the iconic trumpeter wrote some of his most memorable compositions………
It looks like all is well in T.I. and Tameka “Tiny” Cottle’s marriage. The rapper had an early dinner at Mulberry Street Pizzeria with his wife, Tiny and their bodyguard. The threesome ordered a full pizza with wings, and seemed to be having a fun casual Friday night out in Beverly Hills……….
