Celebs who included Jamie Foxx, Tyrese Gibson and Oprah’s newly found sister, Patricia, also joined Oprah in a light supper of filet mignon, fried chicken and mashed potatoes, sea food, cobb salad, incredible desserts and Tattinger champagne.
Actress Elizabeth Mathis stars in “Blue Crush 2,” a new movie about making friends, finding romance and surfing killer waves. The movie will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD June 7. The bronze beauty stepped out of her comfort zone to speak with a South African accent in “Blue Crush 2,” and loved having to film in the water everyday in South Africa, where she learned how to surf.
The Coalition of Theatres of Color honored actor/director Arthur French on May 19 at the Black Spectrum Theatre in Queens, New York. French received a Lifetime Achievement Award to commemorate his remarkable 50-year career in stage, television and film. Actor Ted Lange, best known for his role as Issac the bartender on “The Love Boat,” presented Arthur with the award.
After a stellar eighth year with a sold-out crowd of 12,000, it’s that time of year again for multi-faceted entertainer Steve Harvey to host the 2011 Ford Hoodie Awards. Being held on August 13 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, the ever-popular awards show will recognize some of the best businesses, schools and leaders in communities across the nation. The presenters for this year’s Hoodie Awards include Anthony Anderson, Kevin Hart, Kyle Massey, Elise Neal and George Wallace, with live performances by R&B Soul stars Kem, Jill Scott, plus Gospel singer Kirk Franklin.
Queen Latifah threw a preview party on Monday night in New York City to celebrate her new clothing line. The Queen Collection for women from size 2-22 will premiere on the Home Shopping Network (HSN) in August. The Cover Girl spokes model is also the producer of the new VH1 dramedy “Single Ladies,” starring Lisaraye and Stacey Dash which debuts on May 30. Queen Latifah will play a character in one of the episodes.
