Whitney Houston is seeking help. The singer, who has struggled with substance abuse in the past, has recently entered an out-patient treatment program. “Whitney Houston is currently in an out-patient rehab program for drug and alcohol treatment,” her rep tells People in an statement. “Whitney voluntarily entered the program to support her long-standing recovery process.” A music industry source who was with Whitney two weeks ago tells TMZ: “She was plastered and she was a mess.” She has been in for 10 days. Sources say she is cleansing herself to get ready for a new movie, which is most likely “Getting To Happy,” the sequel to “Waiting To Exhale.”
The Brotherhood/Sister Sol non-profit organization hosted their 7th Annual Voices Benefit at New York City’s ESPACE last Thursday night. Hosted by CNN Anchor & Special Correspondent, Soledad O’Brien, the evening honored former New York City Mayor David N. Dinkins, actress Rosario Dawson and the incredible Dr. Cornel West.

Al Sharpton received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity degree from Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida. thirty-nine years ago, his father was not present to see him graduate from Tilden High School Brooklyn, although his mother, Ada Sharpton was. However, his dad was present last week to witness Rev. Sharpton receive his second honorary Doctorate of Divinity. The Rev. Dr. also delivered the Commencement Address.
According to MTV-UK, 50 Cent and Jay-Z are not the good friends that fans assume they are. The G-Unit leader stated that he would consider Hov an “associate.” Curtis added: “We are in the same business. We are not necessarily friends. We don’t call each other for no reason.” While 50 said there’s no beef between them, he explained: “Me and Jay-Z will use each other. Repeatedly, For energy.”
Oprah Winfrey dined with fashion icon Diane Von Furstenberg at RL Eatery in Chicago last weekend. The restaurant is owned by Oprah’s former chef. Meanwhile, aside from vowing to be more hands on with her fledgling OWN Network when she ends her 25 year-old talk show on May 25, Oprah is also rumored to be contemplating starring in a Broadway show.
