Joining Patricia Marshall Harris as a special guest and “visiting chef”on the 11th, and current, episode of her “Cooking with Patricia” video podcast is John William Chin, the executive director of the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation (PCDC).
In that capacity, Mr. Chin oversees all of that organization’s projects and programs. Chin is a native of Philadelphia’s Chinatown, and attended the community’s Holy Redeemer School and, subsequently, the Friends Select School, the private Quaker school, located in Center City Philadelphia.
Chin serves on the Board of several nonprofit organizations, including the Philadelphia Association of Community Development Corporations, Friends Select School, and the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau’s PHL Diversity.
He also serves as a board member of the Mayor’s Office of Economic Opportunity and as a member of the National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development (National CAPACD).
As Chinatown served as a gateway to success for his own family, Chin is committed to the preservation and growth of Chinatown for new immigrants. In his spare time, he enjoys crime procedurals, basketball and cooking for his family.
