Silver Spring, MD – TV One plans a musical explosion in celebration of Black Music Month – or “Our Music Month” as TV One viewers have come to know it – it with concerts, movies and specials that pay tribute to African-American contributions to America’s music history. Starting Saturday, June 2 at 8 PM ET, TV One kicks off “Our Music Month” with the TV One premiere of the Golden Globe-nominated and NAACP Image Award-winning musical biopic Cadillac Records. This criticallyacclaimed film chronicles the rise and fall of Cadillac Records and its musical icons Etta James, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Little Water and Chuck Berry. TV One offers more of Beyoncé at 10 PM with Beyoncé I Am Yours Live in Las Vegas.

TV One offers an all-new, one-hour special presentation of its popular docu-series Life After Saturday, June 9 at 8 PM featuring renowned music executive Andre Harrell. Viewers will see how Andre Harrell made the move from rapping in high schools to managing one of the biggest record labels of its time, Uptown Records. He’ll talk about it all, from the high points of discovering Mary J Blige, molding Sean “Diddy” Combs from an intern into a music mogul, and his $50 million dollar deal at MCA, to the lows of his untimely resignation from the CEO post at Motown and heart surgery that brought him back from the brink. This star-studded episode includes personal interviews with Diddy, Kanye West, Robin Thicke, Russell Simmons, and Mary J Blige.

TV One’s highest-rated series, the NAACP Image Award-winning Unsung, returns Monday, June 25th at 9 PM with the first of eight brand new shows featuring the legendary ’60s and ’70s rock, funk and soul group Sly and the Family Stone. Among the other music luminaries featured this season will be the incredible ’60s Motown group The Marvelettes, and ConFunkShun as well as the amazing R&B vocalist Angela Bofill, hip hop game changers Kool Moe Dee and Arrested Development, soul, jazz and blues vocalist Lou Rawls; and “the last soul singer” Gerald Levert.

Other highlights include Chaka Khan Live in Malibu (June 9 from 9-11 PM) and TV One Night Only 2011: Live From the Essence Music Festival, (June 16 at 8 PM, 10 PM and midnight) featuring unforgettable performances by Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Jennifer Hudson, Usher and New Edition, and a host of other amazing talent (all times ET).
