Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and the Fairmount Park Conservancy have partnered to bring “The Present”– a new, interactive holiday attraction – to the recently renovated LOVE Park. An added feature to the annual Christmas Village in Philadelphia, The Present is a glowing, 27-foot-tall, walk-through holiday gift box, featuring a 4-foot decorative bow and five miles of red and white LED lights, consisting of 100,000 bulbs! The Present creates a space for LOVE Park visitors to donate to various causes that will benefit the people and parks of Philadelphia. The Present will be lit at a lighting ceremony with Mayor Jim Kenney at 4:30pm on Monday.

“In addition to all the wonderful holiday attractions that Philadelphia has to offer, this year Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and the Fairmount Park Conservancy have added a stunning light installation in the middle of LOVE Park,” Kenney said. “The Present is a beautiful new feature that encourages Philadelphians to participate in the season of giving. I hope everyone will stop by to check out this new feature and consider donating to one of the worthy causes it promotes.”

The Present is free to enter and will be open to the public daily, 11am-10pm, starting Giving Tuesday, November 27 to Monday, December 24 (Christmas Eve). For more information, follow #loveparkpresent on social media.

While visiting, guests can make a $5.00 gift to one of three causes via text and Bank of America will match it.

“This initiative will support Fairmount Park Conservancy’s work in stewarding programs and projects throughout Philadelphia’s parks and we are very grateful to participate,” said Jamie Gauthier, Fairmount Park Conservancy’s Executive Director. “We encourage visitors to experience ‘The Present’ and thank Bank of America for their support.”

“The Present is an exciting addition to the wonderful and festive atmosphere at Christmas Village in LOVE Park,” said Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Commissioner Kathryn Ott Lovell. “LOVE Park is a cherished public space that inspires compassion and kindness towards all and I hope every visitor will consider donating to one of these great causes while enjoying the spectacular light features of this unique installation.”

“We are thrilled to be a part of this special initiative,” said Sister Mary Scullion, Project HOME’S executive director and co-founder. “Philadelphians are so generous and Bank of America is a tremendous community partner. These gifts will help many guests at the Hub of Hope to have clean clothes, a shower, and a fresh start. Our thanks to the City of Philadelphia for including us. Philadelphia cares about its most vulnerable citizens!”

*Bank of America Charitable Foundation will match individual contributions up to $5,000.00 per organization through this campaign.

Additionally, guests who make a donation will have the opportunity to leave their messages of giving on gift tags they can tie to the inside wall of The Present.

“We are honored to support this new festive addition to Christmas Village 2018 to promote the gift of giving,” said Jim Dever, Bank of America’s Philadelphia market president. “The Bank of America Charitable Foundation will match all contributions made at The Present, helping the people and organizations in the Philadelphia region have the power to grow and achieve their goals.”

The Christmas Village in Philadelphia is an authentic German Christmas market with over 80 vendors selling authentic European food, ornaments, and arts & crafts from all over the world. The Present was fabricated by  FK Productions, a Philadelphia-based design build creative agency specializing in large scale art installations, experiential and architectural design.
