The NY Daily News has spoken to Mary J. Blige’s publicist and contrary to reports that the singer decked her husband, Kendu Isaacs, at a promotional event for her new CD, Karynne Tencer told the paper that Blige was trying to stop a brawl between Isaacs and her brother.

“Mary was not fighting with her husband,” said Tencer. “Her husband and her brother got into an altercation that turned into a fight. Mary went to break up the fight.”

But Tencer claims she doesn’t know the name of Blige’s brother or the reason for the row at the M2 Ultralounge. Club security helped the Grammy Award winner pull the men apart, who also disputed reports that Isaacs’ lip was bleeding. “Nobody was bleeding,” Tencer said. Blige’s camp also denied the singer screamed ‘What are you gonna do, Chris Brown me?’ at her husband. “She never mentioned Chris Brown,” Tencer said. “Mary and Kendu went home together.”

The Daily News also reported that after sources claimed the no more drama singer had smacked Isaacs because he was supposedly flirting with a waitress, she decided to set the record straight. However, it is interesting that Blige hasn’t spoken directly herself to the media to refute the allegations.

The NY Post has released what they say is video that shows the confrontation between Mary and Kendu. To us, it’s not readily apparent what is going on … maybe it’s our monitor, so you may have to re-play it several times. We’ll let you decide:

The reported punch in the face – which drew blood, according to the Post – went down at New York’s M2 after Blige allegedly saw Kendu checking out one of the waitresses.

“[Blige] turned to him and was screaming, ‘You’re not going to ruin my night,’” a witness told the Post. “They got up in each other’s faces before someone tried to separate them, at which point she shoved the guy aside, pulled back and popped [Isaacs] in the face.”

The source said Blige, Isaacs and their entourage were whisked through a door to the attached club Pink, which was closed. The witness continued, “She was yelling at him, ‘What are you gonna do, Chris Brown me?’ Four of her bodyguards and two of the club’s kept them apart.”

Isaacs, according to the Post, was tossed out of the venue, while Blige went to the ladies room to fix her hair and makeup. But she bounced soon after, leaving partygoers Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Busta Rhymes and others behind, according to the papers.
