As we continue to process the many changes happening in and around our lives right now, know that his and her stories —herstory and history — are taking place, right here and right now!

Parents/guardians, students and teachers continue the fight of educating and being educated!  Today is the “now” to start taking a stand on issues that we have allowed to be overlooked and mishandled.

Continue to help in the journey of getting our youth back where they need to be and gaining the history they desire in order to become more productive citizens.  Allow the parents/guardians and teachers to feel worthy of all their efforts, prayers, and sacrifices.  Together we must come, together we must demand, and together, youth will win!

Since the start of the pandemic, parents/guardians, students, and teachers have been working hard to continue the daily of what my online learning now looks like.  Together, we made it all work out!

It takes all three legs to come together to make it work successfully.  What are three legs?  The three legs consist of the parents/guardians, students and teachers all coming together and working together, at all times, at all cost, by any means necessary, always!  When one or more of the legs are missing, so is the process of learning.

Parents/guardians, it is imperative to find some kind of on-line learning program over the summer to keep the spirit of learning alive and ongoing in your household and the minds of your child or children.  If not an online program, then you as the parent or guardian can develop a plan to help assist your child or children and their learning as we are living in our new normalcy.

It is kind of like going back to when parents andguardians helped and assisted their child or children in all things which gave them strength, completely unaware of these gifts being instilled within themselves.  Going back in order to come forward will be our greatest lesson as our vision becomes clearer on how our youth will continue to be educated across America.  One thing is for sure — it will take all three legs to be successful!

Students, your summer this year will be unlike any of them which you have experienced before.  Quiet as it is not being said, and too loud for adults to hear, this is the year you have been looking forward to.  The summer when you don’t have to go to camp, you don’t have to work, you don’t have to travel to granny’s house in Mobile, Alabama or grandpop’s house in Jackson, Mississippi this summer, and/or whatever you didn’t want to do, go, or be this summer.  Then we have youth that may feel that their summer will be mundane and a loss of time that not much was able to be done due to social distancing and masks.

Teachers, it is the time to sit back and look back from whence we have come from and where we have yet to arrive.  With the many uncertainties of how we will come back, when will we come back and where will we come back are questions that we will have the answers to in time.  So, until that time comes, try to examine your thoughts and your actions about what you may have done right or what you may have done wrong, so that you can sit back and take a break and breathe for yourself and all that you continue to do each and every day, for not yourself, but for others — the students that you teach and love, daily.

For the front line workers who are educating our youth today we want to say: ACCOLADES TO THE PARENTS/GUARDIANS, STUDENTS, AND TEACHERS!!!  PEACE…
