It is spring, a season of renewal.  Why not add some life that hair that’s been hiding under a hat all winter with a flattering spring hairdo?

Choosing a new hairstyle is a very personal decision and should be researched carefully before undergoing the change. If you feel the need for a new spring hairstyle, there are a number of factor you should take into account. Hair stylist suggests choosing a style that fits the shape and size of your face and head.

It also is important to consider your height, weight, lifestyle and especially your willingness to spend time maintaining your look. Salon professionals suggest that you consider the texture of your hair, because a style that works well for straight, fine hair will probably not work for thick, curly or kinky hair.

As you begin your spring hairdo journey, here are some simple guidelines to help you find the most flattering hairstyle for spring.

Examine your current look. Stand in front of a full-length mirror and determine how well your current hairstyle suits you. In the process, use a hand-held mirror to view all angles of your hairstyle including the back of your hair.

Pin or hold up long hair to imagine how it would look cut short. See what length is most flattering to the shape of your face.

Try on wigs and extensions assisted by the staff at your beauty salon or local wig shop. The experience will demonstrate how different styles and colors will look.

Use computer technology so select a hairstyle. There are numerous websites that promote virtual hairstyling. You may upload our own photo and try on hundreds of hairstyles that range from those worn by Hollywood celebrities to those that are this season’s latest fad.

Look at photographs of yourself from years past to see the progression of your hairstyles. You might consider selecting the one you think worked best with your face and body type. Analyze whether something similar to it would work with your current weight and height. Remember, to avoid looking dated, you will have to adapt your hairstyle to current trends.

Visit a hair salon and consult a professional. While you are waiting, page through magazines.  Show your stylist a photograph of a look you like and ask if it would be a suitable style for your hair. Not all styles can be adapted and achieved by a stylist.  If the a stylist advises against the new hairdo, heavily weigh the advise before proceeding.

Choose what fits your personality and lifestyle. Select a hairstyle that professionals will be able to teach you to duplicate and maintain daily with minimal frustration.

Maintain your new spring hairstyle by purchasing the suggested hair products recommended by your stylist, such as mousse, gels, oil or hair spray. This will help you maintain a polished look.

Following these guidelines should ensure that you find the most flattering hairdo for spring.
