Today’s modern women have unlimited choices when seeking to glamourize themselves with the latest hair trends. Their hair can be transformed into any style in a single salon visit and with the help of modern hair weaving, which not only provides added length, it can add thickness and volume to thin hair or it supply color and streaks minus harmful chemical processing.

Hair styles are continually seeking new ways to apply hair extensions. The process becoming the most practical is the Brazilian method.  The process involves attaching extension hair to the client’s hair using small elastic bands. Brazilian hair extensions last longer and are less damaging than other methods.

Types of Hair

Brazilian hair’ often used in this  because this hair has not been processed or treated. It’s naturally shiny and has a slight wave. It is recommended that any process such as straightening or dying be done after your stylist has attached the extensions. The hair is sometimes called cuticle hair, because the cuticles are unidirectional (flow in one direction), minimizing tangles and frizzing rising.

Remy hair is a popular weave product. It is from India and is sometimes referred to as Temple hair because it comes from young men and women who shave their hair off as part of their Hindu faith. Temple hair is also cuticle hair. It only comes in two colors—black and dark brown. However, it can be dyed and processed after it has been attached to a client’s head like nice virgin hair.

The amount of hair needed varies. For a more natural look use about seven ounces. For a fuller look, use 8 to 12 ounces.

The Technique

The Brazilian method adds little weight and minimizes shedding. The hair is washed and dried. Dot not add conditioners, pomades, mousses, hair gels or oils to the hair. These products will smooth the hair cuticle. The cuticle must be open to facilitate the client’s hair bonding to the extension hair. Hair is divided into quarter-inch sections. The extension hair is attached to a client’s hair using elastic bands colored to match. The process takes about three to four hours to complete.

The longevity of extensions

With African textured hair, the longevity of the extensions depens on how quickly the hair grows and how often new growth will have to be retouched. With regular adjustments, European textured hair can last from six to 12 months.

Extension Removal

Be careful when removing the elastic bands because they can pull and damage the hair.

To ensure extensions are properly removed, it is suggested that the job be done by a licensed stylist.
