Oscar nominee Terrence Howard and Corey Stoll round out regular cast of NBC’s new ‘Law & Order: Los Angeles’
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif.--Oscar nominee Terrence Howard ("Hustle & Flow") and Corey Stoll ("Salt") join the regular cast of NBC's new drama "Law & Order: Los Angeles" (Wednesdays, 10-11 p.m. ET), which premieres September 29.
Howard portrays A.D.A. Jonah "Joe" Dekker and will share the position with Alfred Molina ("Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time"), who plays Deputy District Attorney Morales, in alternate episodes. LOLA also completed its cast in August with the additions of Regina Hall ("Ally McBeal") as Deputy D.A. Evelyn Price and Wanda De Jesus ("CSI: Miami") as Lieutenant Arleen Gonzales in the homicide division. Production begun last month.
Stoll plays Detective T.J. Jaruszalski and will partner with Detective John Winters (previously announced Skeet Ulrich).
The announcement was made by Dick Wolf, creator and executive producer, "Law & Order: Los Angeles" and Angela Bromstad, President, Primetime Entertainment, NBC and Universal Media Studios.
After acquiring Howard and Molina, Wolf commented, "I feel like manager of the 1961 Yankees. I have my Mantle and Maris."
"Having Terrence and Corey on board this ambitious new series adds to an already impeccable cast," said Bromstad. "We are excited to see this series continue in a new locale in Los Angeles that will add infinite story possibilities."
Howard is an Oscar nominee for his performance in "Hustle & Flow." His recent feature film credits include "Iron Man" and voicing a character in "The Princess and the Frog." Howard also starred in such films as "Crash," "August Rush," "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," "Ray," "Wifey," "Pride," "Idlewild," "The Players Club," "Angel Eyes" and "Mr. Holland's Opus."
In addition, among Howard's television are the movies "Lackawanna Blues" (for which he received an Image Award), "The O.J. Simpson Story" and "King of the World" (as Cassius Clay). He also was a series regular in "Sparks" and guest-starred in "New York Undercover," "NYPD Blue" and "Picket Fences."
Stoll currently appears in the feature film "Salt." His additional film credits are "Push" and "North Country." Stoll also guest-starred on "NCIS," "The Nine," "ER," "Law & Order," "The Good Wife" and "The Unit." He recently appeared on Broadway in the revival of Arthur Miller's "A View From The Bridge."
From the small screen to the big screen, Wanda De Jesus proves to always show tremendous range as an actress, and to never shy from a challenging role. Her most recent films include "Illegal Tender," produced by John Singleton ("Shaft," "Poetic Justice") and written and directed by Franc. Reyes ("Empire"). Playing courageous mother Millie De Leon, De Jesus received critical acclaim for her powerful performance, which shot in both her hometown of New York and in Puerto Rico. Her small screen accomplishments include a lead recurring role as Detective Adell Sevilla in "CSI: Miami," and in Elmore Leonard's "Gold Coast," directed by Peter Weller. She also garnered attention portraying the savvy investigative field reporter Liz Vega on "Live Shot." Other serials include "Mariah" as well as sexy Santana Andrade on the daytime drama "Santa Barbara."Guest lead television credits include "NYPD Blue," "Promised Land," "Brooklyn South," "Touched by an Angel," "Nash Bridges" and "Profiler."
Regina Hall began her acting career in the late 1990s with several national television commercials, while simultaneously earning a master's degree from New York University. During this same period, she began her television career with a recurring role as a young student on the soap opera "Loving," followed by guest appearances on several New York series, including the police drama "New York Undercover." Hall landed her first studio feature with a small part in the film "The Best Man."She left a lasting impression on viewers with her portrayal of the character Candy, and as a key member of the all-star cast, she took her "A-list" status in young Hollywood.
Hall followed up with roles in "Love and Basketball" and "Disappearing Acts." Adding comedy to her repertoire, she further expanded her career when she won the part of high school-aged Brenda Meeks in the comedy horror spoof "Scary Movie." Most recently, she starred alongside Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler in the blockbuster thriller "Law Abiding Citizen." She recently finished production on the rowdy college feature flick "Mardi Gras" for Screen Gems, and starred opposite Chris Rock and Martin Lawrence in the Neil Labute-directed feature "Death at a Funeral."
"Law & Order: Los Angeles" is the latest iteration of the most successful brand in the history of primetime television. The series follows the successful model of "Law & Order," split between the police and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders.
