US premiere of Welsh playwright Abi Morgan’s hit play, “Tiny Dynamite” to be produced at the 2010 Fringe Festival
Kapow Productions is pleased to announce that they will be producing the US premiere of "Tiny Dynamite" by Welsh playwright Abi Morgan at the 2010 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. The production will take place at the second stage of The Adrienne Theatre, 2030 Sansom Street, Philadelphia on September 9th and 12th at 7pm and September 10th, 11th, 16th, 17th and 18th at 9pm. The show will be directed by the acclaimed director of Plays and Players theatre, Daniel Student.
This beautiful play was the hit of the 2001 Edinburgh Festival and went on to a successful run at the Lyric Theatre in London. The play tells the story of two childhood friends, Lucien and Anthony who are unable to move on from a tragedy that occurred in the past. Every year they take a holiday together and this year they meet Madeleine who reminds them of the girl they loved and lost.
This British play was the hit of the 2001 Edinburgh Festival. It then transferred to great critical acclaim to the Lyric, London in 2003.

The BBC recently announced at The Cannes Film Festival that the playwright, Abi Morgan, is to write an adaptation of Clare Tomlinson's book about Charles Dickens for BBC Films. She is the writer behind the BAFTA award winning BBC drama, "Sex Traffic."
Tomlinson and several plays that have been produced in the West End and toured nationally around the UK. This production marks the US premiere of her work.
The company behind "Tiny Dynamite", Kapow Productions (formally known as Stripped Bare Theatre Company), produced another British play, "Dumb Show" by Joe Penhall, at the 2009 Fringe Festival to great success. That show, directed by Barrymore nominated director Ozzie Jones, was a City Paper 'Pick of The Fringe' and a fan favorite. In a feature article published in the Montgomery Papers the play was described as, "a biting black comedy about the symbiotic relationship between celebrities and the media" and in her review for the Philadelphia Inquirer, Toby Zinman praised "the lovely, subtle and accomplished cast."
