Increase in homelessness up 56% in one year
As part of their on-gong efforts to address the many needs of the homeless and those in shelters, The Women's Council of Philadelphia Metropolitan Board of Realists are not only talking about the plight of homeless, they're doing something about it!
The Department of Housing and Urban Development reports that 1.6 million Americans were homeless and stayed in a shelter at least once in 2008 and that these are not just the traditional single person but "the newly homeless"......families. Shawn Donovan, Secretary of HUD reports an increase of 56% in the last year.
Join PMBR on May 15th at the City Line Hilton from 9:00 AM-12 Noon for their First Annual Prayer Breakfast. Funds will be given to a family that is in transition, to assist with short term housing, lease/rental agreements, utilities payments and professional counseling services as it relates to housing.
PMBR is an association of Minority Real Estate Brokers whose goal is to develop and subsidize transitional housing for the under-served.
