Fashion Feed to WIPE-OUT Hunger: a food, fashion and charity event

If you could feed your craving for fashion, food and free wine while simultaneously wiping out hunger, would you? Wait, is that a real question? On Thursday March 21, 2013 the Wipe Out Hunger foundation will host Fashion Feed, a high fashion and high energy fundraising event at Auletto’s (1849 Cooper St, Woodbury, NJ 08096) to support local food banks. One hundred percent of the proceeds from Fashion Feed (a dinner party, silent auction and exclusive fashion presentation) will benefit the WIPE-OUT Hunger Foundation. Fashion Feed will feature an exclusive presentations of collections from Marlene’s Dress Shoppe and couture designer Jacinta Ligon.
Also that night, the Hunger Hero Awards, (hosted by Ike Reese of the Mike and Ike Show) will recognize leaders in the community that have made an impact in the fight against hunger. Recipients include Kim Furtunato, of Campbell’s Soup Foundation and Dale B.D. Dunning, of Jusst Sooup Ministry.
The WIPE-OUT Hunger Foundation, which was founded in February 2012, supports local food banks through monetary contributions for the purchase of perishable items. While oftentimes food banks have an abundance of canned goods and non-perishable items, they often lack items such as milk, cheese, bread, etc. Every donation is distributed to a food bank in the community where the original donor lives.
WIPE-OUT Hunger founder Patricia Kasdan started the organization after a conversation with her children over breakfast about the populations of various cities around the country. Patricia began to do research on the number of people who went hungry each year and was astonished. Later she created the foundation for WIPE-OUT Hunger: raise $1, per person, per household, per year to help eliminate hunger throughout the world. “We are not asking people to give until it hurts, we’re asking them to give to take the hurt away”, Kasdan said.
