The 2012 Christmas Village of Philadelphia returns to Love Park for it’s fifth year Nov. 22 to Dec. 24
The warm and wonderful sights and sounds of the Thanksgiving and Christmas season in the Greater Philadelphia Region will once again take place at Philadelphia's LOVE Park for the 2012 annual Christmas Village of Philadelphia presented by OneMain Financial.
The Christmas Village of Philadelphia presented by OneMain Financial is now in its fifth year and is an outdoor holiday market built and modeled after the traditional Christmas markets in Germany. The Christmas Village, which was visited by an estimated 400,000 people last year, brings European Christmas charm to America. Admission to the Christmas Village is free.
Starting on Thanksgiving Day (November 22nd) and ending on Christmas Eve (December 24th), the Christmas Village of Philadelphia presented by OneMain Financial will transform LOVE Park (15th and JFK Boulevard) in Center City Philadelphia into a traditional German Christmas Market. The Christmas Village will feature more than 60 vendors in festive wooden decorated booths and two large tents offering a range of international holiday gifts, ornaments, jewelry, high-quality arts and crafts as well as European and American food, drinks and sweets.
The Christmas Village's cozy atmosphere is decorated with thousands of lights, perfumed with the delicious smell of waffles and gingerbread and will be the home of the City of Philadelphia's Official Christmas Tree starting December 5, bringing everyone in the Greater Philadelphia Region and visitors to Philadelphia to the perfect Christmas mood.
The Christmas Village will be open 11 AM- 5 PM on Thanksgiving Day. On Nov. 23 until Dec. 23, the Christmas Village will be open 11 AM-7 PM (Sunday through Thursday) and 11 AM-8 PM (Friday and Saturday). The Christmas Village will be open on Christmas Eve from 11 AM to 5 PM.
The Christmas Village in Philadelphia presented by OneMain Financial will also feature local musical performances every day; every weekday evening at 5PM vendors will show off their talent and their unique products; and every weekend will have a special theme to promote the love of the Christmas season.

Christkind (pronounced Kristkint) is a fairy-like being, dressed in a gold and white robe with a crown atop her golden locks. She will officially open the Christmas Village in Philadelphia with her traditional prologue at 2 PM on November 24. The Opening Ceremony comes with wonderful performances by a local choir and a marching band.
In Germany, Christkind is the person who brings the Christmas gifts to children and she will not be coming empty-handed to Philadelphia. After the opening ceremony is complete, Christkind will walk around the Christmas Village greeting children and adults.
The Liberty USO, serving Pennsylvania and New Jersey, is teaming up with Christmas Village this year to help spread the Christmas spirit to American troops this holiday season. On Nov. 24th, Christmas Village will be a drop-off location for the USO's "Operation Stocking Stuffers" for donations of 1,000 packages of nuts or trail mix and 1,000 hard candy packages. The nuts and hard candy will be sent to American troops oversees this holiday season.
