'Dump Donald Trump' petition acquires over 400K signatures overnight
It looks like Americans have had enough of billionaire Donald Trump's screams for attention. Activist Angelo Carusone created a petition on SignOn.org urging the retailer to sever ties with Trump. The petition statement reads: Macy's: Donald Trump does not reflect the "magic of Macy's."
We urge you to sever ties with him.
Macy's says it has a strong obligation to be "socially responsible" and that "actions speak louder than words" Indeed. It's time to act.
Supporters of the petition seem to be tired of Trump's sexist behavior, his hypocrisy, his constant attempts to butcher President Obama's credibility, and a myriad of other horrible characteristics he exudes.
John Jacobs of San Jose, CA, wrote: "Trump needs to feel the consequences of his irrational and out right irresponsible behavior." Judi Friedson of Lexington, MA, plans to leave the retailer if they don't get rid of Trump.
"Donald Trump does not represent what I believe to be professional behavior and should no longer be a voice for your corporation. I have supported Macy's handsomely over the years but that will come to a close if Mr. Trump is not taken off your payroll," she commented on the petition.
Macy's is in a difficult position, as the retailer is slated to heavily promote Trump-brand products this upcoming holiday. A Christmas-themed commercial starring Donald Trump is set to begin airing soon. To date, there's no inclination of whether or not the retailer will 'dump Donald Trump.'
