Philly local and NFL star Raheem Brock holds birthday charity weekend

Raheem Brock, Philadelphia native and NFL superstar celebrated his birthday last weekend. But this was not just another celebrity birthday celebration. For the past six years, Raheem has celebrated his birthday with his annual Charity Weekend, which benefits his nonprofit organization The Raheem Brock Foundation.
In its 6th year, The Annual Charity Weekend kicked off with Brock appearing at his alma mater, Dobbins High School in North Philadelphia to motivate the students and discuss football, education and more, followed by a trip to Shriners Hospital to visit patients with some of his fellow NFL stars. "I come back because this is where I'm from. So many people make it and never come back", Brock said about the annual event.
The Raheem Brock Foundation (formerly called Brocks Kids) benefits youth in the Philadelphia area through mentoring and other outreach programs. Started back in 2005, the organization has grown in recent years with this year Charity Weekend being the largest yet.
"We've been able to help a lot of kids", says Brock, "And we're planning to expand our programs so that we can help more. It's really an awesome feeling". In addition to giving back through his foundation, on Saturday the NFL star turned entrepreneur grand-opened is new restaurant "Brock's Wings" on Temple University's Campus. The day-long event brought out tons of fans for autographs and pictures as well as the chance to win free wings for the entire summer in a wing eating contest. But the best part is that this Black -owned business will employ approximately 20 people.
Brock wrapped the weekend up on Sunday by visiting a Football Camp at Temple University. Brock spent time talking with the students, signing autographs and taking pictures. He even participated in some of the camp's drills.
A portion of the proceeds from Brock's Charity Weekend will benefit The Raheem Brock Foundation which serves underprivileged and disadvantaged students.
