Annagjid "Kee Kee" Taylor, the owner of Deeper than Hair, is known for her attention to the health, strength and length of her clients hair. Taylor has been doing hair for over 15 years and got her start in her mother's basement. Today she is a celebrity stylist, often traveling to Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta to style hair. She has worked with actresses like Tika Sumpter (who played in Think Like a Man) and Nafeesa Williams (from One Life to Live), and also styled at the Emmy Awards and the BET Awards. Most recently she styled hair at the 2012 Global AIDS Awareness Fashion Show in New York City.

And while her list of celebrity client list is long, Annagjid says that each of her clients are equally important to her. Taylor still does hair four days a week in Philadelphia at Philly Cuts Hair Salon in West Philadelphia. She has been styling most of her clients for five years or more. "I think my clients stay with me because they know it's not about money to me. It makes me feel amazing when I help other feel amazing. I literally take care of each and every strand of everyone's hair like it's my very own." And that she does!

Customer testimonials are always nice, but Annagjid prefers to use pictures to display the amazing changes her clients have experienced. "We have some really great before and after pictures. I've seen people's hair really transformed" said Annagjid.

Taylor's specialty is the press and curl, since most of her clients are relaxer free. Not using a relaxer really contributes to the overall health of the hair. "I do have some clients who are not willing to make the switch, but for the most part, a press and curl gives the look as a relaxer. And don't worry, it's not your mama's press and curl!" To help clients who are afraid of "sweating the press and curl out" during the summer months, Taylor installs full weaves which helps to prevent some of the damage of constantly applying heat.

As her celebrity hair stylist ventures continue to take off, Annagjid understands that she probably will not be able to remain local. But for a girl who started out in her mother's basement she really has come a long way. "My inspiration are my two guardian angels my Mom-Mom and Chris, and my faith and God", says Taylor. "I have been able to take my passion for hair further than I have ever imagined! I am proof that anyone make their dreams come true!"

If Charles Ramsey is an American hero or another American casualty of media-induced racial stereotyping or both after helping save the lives of the three kidnapped Cleveland women, one thing is now clear. Ramsey has done the seemingly impossible. He's turned racial stereotyping on its head.

+ FOOD AND BEVERAGE

Grapes from California are in abundant supply throughout the summer, which is welcome news for those seeking a healthy, refreshing snack. They’re also a boon to the home cook: grapes provide bright color, a sweet-tart flavor and a refreshing burst of juice to warm-weather dishes.
